Geetha Srikanth: ‘Inspiring Seniors One Yoga Pose At A Time’

Geetha Srikanth, a dedicated yoga instructor, has been empowering seniors to stay active and healthy through yoga for over five years. Her adaptive approach to fitness ensures that every senior, regardless of mobility, can participate and benefit from her classes.

Geetha Srikanth’s passion lies in yoga, which fuels her every day. She works with seniors almost daily, teaching them how to stretch and stay active.

At 51, Geetha, a certified yoga instructor, has been teaching in Community Centres for over five years, with a special focus on the elderly. In partnership with SASCO, she organises weekly yoga sessions for the seniors across several centres.

Taking into consideration the varying needs of different senior groups, she tailors the workouts based on their fitness level and flexibility. At SASCO@JurongWest, the seniors enjoy chair yoga sessions, which help them to improve flexibility and strength, even while seated in their wheelchairs.

For the more mobile seniors at SASCO@Khatib, Geetha conducts mat yoga sessions to keep them actively engaged.

Surprisingly, many of these seniors are highly flexible, even in their late 60s and 70s.

The seniors are very sincere and enthusiastic about yoga sessions with me. It’s what keeps me going!

She has formed strong bonds with SASCO’s seniors across all the centres she visits. There’s always a buzz of excitement in her classes, where seniors bond and create lasting memories together.
